Some sites provide the opportunity to see a wide variety of species while other sites are important as thay hold colonies of key species which are rare or localised in distribution in our area. Kidney Vetch has been planted in an attempt to encourage the return of the Small Blue to the site. Wood White and Dark Green Fritillary are now extinct on this site. Moth Species: - Other Widlife : Limestone grassland and extensive scrub on spoil heaps from the development of the railway during the 1840's. Moth Species: Six-belted Clearwing, Mother Shipton, Burnet Companion. Other Widlife : Grassland and scrub with canal and pools. Former colliery site. White-legged Damselfly.
